#WIB – Q&A With Thabisile Sethaba Co-Founder Of Sendoff
1. Can you please tell us more about your business?
Sendoff is a mobile and web platform digitizing the entire funeral/deathcare value chain and providing our users with convenience, information and a 10X better CX for funeral related services. We connect bereaved families to reliable funeral and deathcare services. We’re solving the friction and pain points around anything deathcare for late Gen Xers & Early Millennials (30-45).
We provide a technology solution to enable our users to “find anything funeral” on Sendoff and provide information, convenience & a 10x better CX for funeral related services. We are completely changing the way people approach deathcare. Normalizing and adding a trustable, repeatable and scalable way for people to manage an unavoidable life step in a sensitive, efficient and cost effective way.
2. When, how and why did you start your business?
We started in 2020 and officially launched in May 2021.
3. What is your role in the business?
I am the chief operations officer and deal with all things around operation.
4. Where did you study and what did you study?
I am currently doing my law diploma at Unisa and have a background in information technology. I did a learnership with the city of Johannesburg, got employed by the city to do project coordination for their new builds of their broadband infrastructure.
5. How did you finance your business?
We boostrapped through personal funds.
6. Describe your average workday, if such a thing exists.
It’s a startup so we do everything that needs to be done. From onboarding service providers to working on the business, ensuring the team meets business goals.
7. How do you balance your home life and your work life?
Being a mom to a four year old and building a startup is like raising two kids at the same time.I have had to adjust to a specific routine in order to balance.
8. What drives you and inspires you?
I love building solutions that open up industries and create the ability to influence the future by creating opportunities for other businesses to thrive and put Africa on the global map.
9. Where and when do you have your best ideas?
In the gym or shower.
10. Where and how do you market/advertise your business for sales leads?
We market our business through partnerships and social media.
11. What is next for your business?
Continental expansion and new exciting products.
12. What advice would you give to female entrepreneurs hoping to start their own business?
No one gets out of this life alive and we can only do this life thing once. Go after it and go after it hard. It won’t be easy but it will be worth it.
