#WIB – Q&A With Sancha Hein Founder Of Panoptic Media
1. Can you please tell us more about your business?
A. Panoptic Media is a small social media agency that is passionate about helping small businesses achieve perfection in their online presence.
2. When, how and why did you start your business?
A. It was in 2018. I was chatting to a friend of mine about how his business really needed an online presence. Since I have always been interested in marketing and social media, I gave him a couple of ideas. He asked if I’d be interested in freelancing for them and I leaped at the opportunity. In 2020, I went full-time with Panoptic Media, and they are still a client of mine.
3. What is your role in the business?
A. I am the founder and I do everything else in-between.
4. Where did you study and what did you study?
A. I studied Project Management at the Project Management Academy. I am currently studying Social Media Marketing and Brand Management at the Digital School of Marketing.
5. How did you finance your business?
A. I was working full-time when I started freelancing so I had an income. Eventually, as I gained more clients, I took the leap of faith and turned my side hustle into my 9 to 5.
6. Describe your average workday, if such a thing exists.
- 06:30-07:00 – Wake and do yoga
- 07:00-08:00 – Get ready for work, feed the dogs, and make coffee
- 08:00-09:00– Check e-mails, client social media platforms and do community management
- 09:00-11:00 – Prep content and work on campaigns
- 11:00-13:30 – Admin
- 13:30-14:00 – Try my very best to have lunch (or another cup of coffee)
- 14:00-15:30 – Business development
- 15:30-17:00 – Prep work for the next day
- 17:00 – Netflix, dog cuddles, and snacks!
7. How do you balance your home life and your work life?
A. It’s rather tricky since I have chosen to be dedicated to my business. I have made my business a priority in life and everything is pretty much secondary. I figured I needed to make certain sacrifices in order to make my business a success. I don’t recommend that strategy for everyone, but it works for me.
8. What drives you and inspires you?
A. To be successful and to give my dogs the backyard they deserve! I find inspiration through connecting with people who are also passionate and understanding.
9. Where and when do you have your best ideas?
A. Definitely when I start talking and bouncing ideas off of my clients and freelancers I work with. Sharing the same energy and passion really helps with creativity.
10. Where and how do you market/advertise your business for sales leads?
A. Word-of-mouth has been my strongest point of advertising, but I promote my business via social media.
11. What is next for your business?
A. I have so many plans! But next, Panoptic Media will have a get a minor brand lift, grow its pool of freelancers to expand my business offerings, and implement a more aggressive marketing strategy.
12. What advice would you give to female entrepreneurs hoping to start their own business?
A. Don’t ever rely on anyone else to get to where you want to be. People come and go, but the unwavering support you give yourself stays forever, and don’t let anyone ever silence that.
Short Bio
Hi, my name is Sancha Hein, owner, and founder of Panoptic Media. I am a qualified and experienced project manager, but my passion has always been social media management. Doing social media management as a side hustle for years, I finally took the leap to start a full-time agency and advance my studies in social media. Therefore, Panoptic Media was created in 2020.
I work with clients in different sectors, including finance, hospitality, and beauty, which allows me to offer a variety of services and provide an understanding of industry requirements. As a small business owner, I understand the importance and power of social media. My ethos is about supporting small and local, and that ethos carries through to my business practices.
