Successful Coach Takes Her Business Global

Yumna Aysen has built a thriving life and business coaching business based in Cape Town, but with the onset of Covid 19, she made a seemingly counterintuitive decision: to take her business global.

Aysen has built her Oh Yes It’s Yumi brand over the last three years and coaches clients in the sphere of both personal and business development. She overcame debilitating shyness as a teen, only to become a successful member of Toastmasters and an inspirational speaker, which inspired her transition to becoming a success coach.

Like many working in similar fields, the pandemic put a sudden stop to her in-person consultations. However, the flipside was that this accelerated her online practice, as clients quickly became comfortable with online sessions.

During this time, Aysen says she had to use some of her own advice: “This year has had a lot of obstacles for everyone, including myself. However I tried to find the opportunity that this year held. I always like to encourage my clients to find the opportunity in difficult situations and have a solutions-based mindset.”

In the middle of lockdown, she was given the opportunity to join her family, who are based in the US. Although such a big move might have put paid to her business, she decided that it made perfect sense to take her brand global.

“Ever since I was 15 years old, I have always wanted to own a global online business. I just didn’t know what that business would be. But here I am today, with the business I always dreamt about,” she says.

“I am blessed to not only be a citizen of South Africa but also a permanent resident of the United States, which has given me the opportunity to expand my business. I am excited to make South Africans proud and represent my nation worldwide by helping make a difference in people’s lives and helping them become the best versions of themselves.”

Since arriving in the US in August, Aysen has been able to focus on both her South African and US clients.

“It hasn’t been easy trying to run my business during this time, but at the same time I have achieved a lot of exposure in the media this year. I am planning on taking my brand to the next level with the publishing of a book, combined with the creation of an online school that everyone can access from the comfort of their own home. This online school will teach people the life and business skills needed to take their life from ordinary to extraordinary.”
